The Borderlands

Well we have been so fortunate on this trip once again, we were able to drive through Astoria in Oregon and visit The Goonies house as well as the jail where the Fratellis family broke out one of their own in the beginning scene of the movies! So cool! The town was very nice too. We also walked down cannon beach and admired Haystack Rock, the largest monolith in the world and the scene from the Goonies that the beach car race was filmed where the Fratellies escaped the police.

Thats that big monolith from the Goonies

And so before we made our way to Spanaway, WA where we would be staying with James and Mary (for a long unplanned amount of time) we spent our last night in the van with Andrew at a payed-for campsite with a fire pit and showers called Circle Creek campground!

We woke the next morning, clean, rested and headed for Spanaway, Andrew insisted on driving now that he had mastered shifting gears in the van! After a couple three hours of driving we made it to James Cribbett and Mary Dague's house! It was nice to see both of these guys again and for the first time we were meeting for reasons other than death so that made it really nice to be able to call and just say hey can we stay with you for bit! So each day we spend doing our own things here at the Dague/ Cribbett residence, we scrounged up the parts for the van to be fixed, shipped out lots of packages. (Btw oil seals for the transmissions of vanagons aren't easily obtained!) We checked out some thrift shops. But seriously the bad mechanics we got for this repair are forever etched into this trip. The van went it for repair and then they closed for the weekend so here we are on Wednesday and the vans been in since last Thursday! Finally all that is cleared up and we will head for the Canadian border tomorrow! Andrew sadly had taken off on Friday night of last week for his flight at 1:55 am, he really didn't want to leave here though...

Talking with him it looks like everything went well with his flight and ill let him inform you of everything he did when he made it to Boston haha its pretty funny! James and Mary have been very accommodating though, James letting us play video games in his man cave on the 65" and Mary giving us her car to use to putter around gathering car parts and checking out thrift shops. We went shooting and got to shoot some very fun guns!
The SCAR

Its been very relaxing here and the more comfortable we get the more weird it will be to climb back into that van again and press on so we have this anxiousness to return to the mobile life and cross the boarder and onto Alaska; The last frontier of the trip!
